Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze a three-dimensional scanning method of face using stereophotogrammetry system and cross-sectional evaluation of the anthropometry of the face of children with and without cleft lip and palate. The sample will consist of 60 children with and without cleft lip and palate, aged between 5 and 6 years old and complete deciduous dentition. The children will be divided into 2 groups: Group 1 (G1) - children with cleft lip and palate; and Group 2 (G2) - children without cleft lip and palate. Before acquiring the face images, 16 anatomical landmarks will be made on the participant so that 11 linear measurements are quantified. The acquisition of the 3D image of the facial surface will be through the stereophotogrammetry equipment. The first step of the analysis of linear measurements will be performed right after capturing the images using a digital caliper. The previously trained and calibrated operator will quantify the linear measurements directly on the participant's face. In the second stage of anthropometry, the examiner will evaluate the linear measurements in the 3D image through the software of the stereophotogrammetry system. To evaluate the methodologies, the Average Absolute Difference and the Percent Relative Error will be quantified. The Bland-Altman test and the paired T test will also be applied to analyze the agreement between the methods. Independent t test will be used to verify intergroup results. Data will be presented as mean and standard deviation. Non-parametric tests may be applied if necessary. A significance level of 5% will be adopted so that the differences are considered statistically significant.
