Abstract

Composites formed by organic matrices containing biominerals capable of mimicking bones have been reported in the literature. Among these organic matrices, starch has been presented as a good candidate for the manufacture of biomaterials and its use as a material for 3D printing has already been reported. Allied to this, studies using ozone technology (green method) have shown improvement in the printability of gels produced with these starches. The elaboration via 3D printing of bone scaffolds by this modified natural polymer is innovative and should unite its already known biocompatibility and mechanical properties with the bioactivity of biominerals. Thus, the purpose of this project is to produce via 3D printing and characterize bone scaffolds produced from starch gels modified by ozone and added with hydroxyapatite. The mechanical properties of the scaffolds will be evaluated together with their morphological properties. Finally, this study will make it possible to expand the use of starch in the future in the production of personalized biomaterials with unique properties, bringing added value to this source.
