Abstract

Recent literature identify to the need to improve methods for optimizing low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) procedures using physical and observational metrics to enable the reduction of radiation doses while maintaining or improving image quality. This project proposes the investigation of methods for qualifying low-dose tomographic images (LDCT) that take into account physical and observational figures of merit applicable to contemporary reconstruction algorithms. For this, it will make use of additive manufacturing techniques for the design and development of a phantom and the application of analytical methods to evaluate the physical and observational quality of images generated with LDCT.
