Abstract

The family unit in the context of dependence on psychoactive substances suffers impacts on its functionality, which requires it to seek to reorganize itself, face and manage such adversities, in order to stabilize itself emotionally and functionally, overcoming such difficulties and strengthening its resilience. Therefore, it is believed that there is a correlation between family functionality and resilience, which justifies the present research. The objective of this study is to analyze the correlation between resilience and functionality of families that accompany the treatment of a family member dependent on alcohol and other drugs in a public service specialized in mental health. It will consist of a quantitative, correlational and cross-sectional study, with a convenience sample of family members who use alcohol and other drugs in treatment or not, in a specialized mental health service in a city in the interior of São Paulo. The data collection instruments will consist of the family APGAR Scale and the Wagnil and Young Resilience Scale. The analysis will be through descriptive and inferential statistics, with tests. It is expected that the results will contribute to the clinical practice of nurses in the process of caring for the family unit in the context of dependence on psychoactive substances, identifying the difficulties or potentialities of the organizational and functional pattern of the family, as well as thinking about strategies that strengthen their resilience.
