Abstract

The objective is to analyze the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA), methane (CH4) and ammoniacal nitrogen (N-NH3) by the ex-situ method (micro rumen) in diets withdifferent levels of inclusion of dry distillers grains with solubles (DDGS). Twenty rumen cannulated Nellore steers with an average weight of approximately 350 kg will be used, distributed in a completely randomized design (4 animals/treatment) and two experimental periods. Five treatments will be used, considering levels of DDGS inclusion in the dry matter (DM) of: 1) 0 g/kg of DDGS, 2) 150 g/kg of DDGS, 3)300 g/kg DDGS, 4) 450 g/kg DDGS, 5) 600 g/kg DDGS. Analyzes will be performed on samples collected from ruminal material of cannulated animals 0, 4, 8 and 12 hours after supplying the diet, with hour 0 immediately before supplying the diet. The determination of CH4 and AGCC concentration will be performed by gas chromatography and N-NH3 by colorimetric methods. The data will be submitted to analysis of variance using the MIXED procedure and regression by the REG procedure both of the softwareSAS® (version 9.4). Differences will be considered significant when P d 0.05.
