Abstract

This research internship project at Queen's University of Belfast is linked to the doctoral project "Race in Unesp: A study based on the Theory of Organizing Thought Models" supervised by Professor Dr. Mário Sérgio Vasconcelos. During the internship, the objective is to advance in the analysis of the data set already collected during the research, engaging in dialogue with experts in social and racial relations at Queen's University. In particular, through discussions with Rhiannon Turner, a professor of identities and social relations, we will be able to deepen our analysis of the dynamics of racialization associated with identity construction. We also intend to conduct new interviews with professors at Queen's University in order to compare the process of racialization in different contexts, as well as to explore how whiteness intersects with the process of identity construction among higher education professors in Northern Ireland. The twelve-month duration of the internship is expected to provide a greater understanding of the discussions generated by the research center of identity and intergroup relations at Queen's University, as well as the everyday ethnic-racial dynamics experienced in Northern Ireland. Moreover, the internship will allow for discussions with other researchers who specialize in social and ethnic-racial relations, as well as the exploration of new dynamics in higher education in that country.
