Abstract

Márcia Abreu and Guilherme Brockington are developing a research entitled "Results of hospitalized children's contact with fictional narratives", with funding from FAPESP (Process number 2022/05782-6). The project intends to identify possible correlations between children's narratives and biological markers, psycho-emotional responses and socioeconomic and cultural contexts of children. The present project intends to contribute to that research by examining the following question: would reading a book or watching a movie produce the same effect? Therefore, it will be necessary to verify the results of biomarkers and pain scales of a group of children who have contact with textual narratives and a group who have contact with audiovisual narratives, in addition to a control group that will play with riddles. Another objective of the project is to analyze the choices made by children about the narratives they would like to watch or listen to, identifying the most selected titles and seeking to understand the reasons for their interest in such narratives. Moreover, the relationship between gender, ethnicity and the socioeconomic and cultural condition of children and the main characters of the chosen narratives will be studied.
