Abstract

The present research is based on the short stories "The disasters of Sofia" and "theobedient ones" from Foreign Legion by Clarice Lispector, with the aim of analyzing thecomplexities and foundations related to the narrative focus, with special focus on two of themany modalities present in Clarice's work. namely, protagonist narrator and narrator-writer.Both perspectives of the narrator are linked, respectively, to the two short stories mentioned,which reveals a multiplicity regarding the different positions that the narrator can occupy inthe narrative. From the analysis, it is desired to recognize the narrative focus as a crucialelement of Clarice Lispector's literary elaboration, who often discussed the act of narrating inher short stories, chronicles and novels, in addition to her correspondence. Recognizing thecomplexities that language structure, and, by extension, from the literary narration itself, theauthor gives voice to different forms of narrative focus, producing a literature rich in meanings,either by what is expressed in the latency of the sign, or by expressiveness coming from the"unsaid"
