Abstract Breast cancer (BC) is the most prevalent malignancy worldwide and themore common in women, representing 11.7% of all cancer cases. The acidsOmega-3 fatty acids have the potential to modulate transcription factors and gene expressionassociated with the inhibition of cell growth and differentiation, through the inhibition ofexpression of some growth factors and proliferative and inflammatory pathways(PI3K/Akt, NF-ºB), however, there is little evidence on the role ofomega-3 fatty acids on disease-free life, relapse and mortality inwomen survivors of breast cancer. The present study seeks to evaluate theassociation between Omega-3 incorporated into erythrocyte membranes and life free ofdisease, recurrence and mortality in female breast cancer survivors. Withbased on the Viva Mulher and Nutrica Cohorts, demographic parameters will be evaluatedclinical and tumor. From the erythrocytes, collected after a 12-hour fast, it will be analyzedthe profile of fatty acids incorporated into the membranes, emphasizing the content ofomega-3 fatty acids. Throughout the cohort follow-up, women will bemonitored for disease-free life, recurrence and mortality from cancer. TestsAppropriate statistics will be used and survival curves will be tested soisolated and combined, considering each cohort (SPSS, v23.0). | |
