Abstract

The use of agro-industrial residue in new processes has encouraged the development of biotechnological strategies to obtain biomolecules. The bagasse and straw sugarcane are the main by-products of sugarcane industry, and can be used as an alternative and low-cost source for obtaining enzymes and xylo-oligosaccharides (XOS), that act as prebiotics. In this context, the present project aims to investigate xylanases production in solid state cultivation, and subsequently, its use for XOS synthesis using the enzymatic method. Regarding of xylanases production, two different strains of Aspergillus niger and two diferente by-products (bagasse and straw) will be evaluated. Then, the influence of different variables (pH and temperature) will be used to optimize the process. XOS synthesis will be carried out from the crude enzymatic extract obtained in the previous step, by the ranging of pH and the temperature.
