Abstract

The discussion on water governance provides an opportunity to expand the debate on water and sanitation service delivery models, encompassing not only economic and technical dimensions but also ecological and social dimensions. This research aims to analyze the institutional dimension of water resource management, which is of great relevance today. To achieve this purpose, an evaluation of experiences with service remunicipalization as an alternative to both public and private management will be conducted. Additionally, the research will examine the provision of these services in the context of Human Rights to Water and Sanitation, with the aim of assessing their contribution to progressive realization and universalization of these services. The research will be exploratory and descriptive in nature, following a qualitative approach. To systematize water governance models, especially those resulting from the remunicipalization process, a bibliographic and documentary research will be conducted. Through the analysis of the developed categories, it is expected to identify best practices in remunicipalization and, consequently, contribute to the discourse on improving the quality of basic sanitation services in the country. By analyzing these best practices in remunicipalization, it is expected to contribute to the enhancement of the discussion on the universalization of basic sanitation services in the country.
