Abstract

In a country marked by inequality of educational access, the importance ofYouth and Adult Education (EJA in portuguese) is unquestionable, since it is not only about repairing a righthistorically denied, but a policy with a strong impact on future generations, asimportant part of the potential students of this modality have children enrolled in thebasic education who will benefit from increasing their parents' cultural capital. Despite that, the modality occupies a marginal place in public policies, having the lowest funding, thewhich translates into a current context marked by the drop in enrollments, closing of classesand policy dismantling. Even so, there are still projects that resist the deviations and thatmove towards a democratic and quality education within the scope of EJA. Oneexample are the Integrated Centers of Youth and Adult Education (CIEJAs in portuguese), equipmentaudiences that cater exclusively to young people and adults in elementary school courses inSao Paulo City. Thus, in view of the relevance of this initiative and the need toexpand academic production on the financing of EJA, this research projectaims to carry out an exploratory study on the conditions of care andfunding of CIEJAs, seeking to assess the potential, impacts and challenges in terms ofrefers to administrative-financial management. For this, from a quanti-quali approach,a field study is proposed in two units of CIEJAs, in order to promotean in-depth and contextualized study. As instruments, the analysis of theoffer conditions through participant observation, measurement of the amount spent per student, having as a reference the methodology of Paro (1982), and conducting interviewssemi-structured to understand what are the perceptions of students and professionals aboutof the teaching conditions offered.
