Abstract

Enamel affected by Molar and Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) is characterized by a reduction in mineral quality, as well as an increase in porosity, which directly contributes to the risk of post-eruptive fractures and dental caries lesions. Thus, the search for therapies that are capable of improving the mineral quality and consequently the mechanical properties of hypomineralized enamel represents an important demand in the management of this condition. The objective of this in vitro study will be to evaluate the effect of applying 30% Silver Diamino Fluoride (DFP) on the physicochemical and mechanical properties of the enamel of molars affected by MIH (n=8), with the control group consisting of healthy first permanent molars. (n=8), from the FOAr-UNESP Tooth Bank. After surface treatment with DFP 30% (Riva Star) according to the manufacturer's instructions, the physicochemical and mechanical properties will be evaluated on the surfaces treated and not treated with DFP of teeth affected and not affected by MIH. Will be evaluated: mineral density (Micro-CT), structural changes (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), morphology (scanning electron microscopy - SEM), chemical composition (energy dispersive spectroscopy - EDS) and crystalline structure (diffraction X-ray - XRD). The study variables will be the values obtained in physical-chemical and mechanical tests. Qualitative data from SEM, EDS and not treated with DFP, with and without HMI will be applied at the 5% significance level. If the data does not present a normal distribution, non-parametric tests will be used.
