Abstract

The aim of the study is to evaluate the effect of chemical agents made available through effervescent tablets on multi-species biofilm formed on the surface of resins for impression of the bases and teeth for complete denture. Biofilm (C. albicans, S. aureus and S. mutans) will be formed on the surface of circular specimens (6mm x 2mm) in 3D printing acrylic resin and heat-curing acrylic resin (N=144). The specimens will then be into groups: brushing and immersion in water (control) for 20 minutes, brushing and immersion in sodium lauryl sulfate and 0.02% hypochlorite solution for 15 minutes (E1) and brushing and immersion in sodium bicarbonate and methanol solution for 3 minutes (E2). Brushing will be carried out manually for 20 seconds per face with brushes and neutral soap, always by the same researcher. After brushing, the specimens will be immersed in 3 mL solutions test. The microbial load of the target microorganisms will be determined by colony-forming units (CFU) counting in specific culture media and by means of the percentage of live cells visualized under an epifluorescence microscope. The results will be evaluated for normality and homoscedasticity in order to apply the appropriate statistical test. The response variable will be given as the microbial load and percentage of live cells of the target microorganisms and the variation factors will be hygiene protocols at 3 levels (Control, E1 and E2) and resin at 4 levels (printed for base and tooth, conventional for base and tooth).
