Abstract

The allocation of public resources generally involves complex decisions covering personnel, technology, infrastructure and other assets for the functioning of institutions within a given budget. However, the allocation of resources should be assessed from the beneficiaries' point of view. This project aims to understand the preferences of service consumers - in this case, students at a public university - for physical resources: library, university restaurant, leisure area, sports and laboratories. To understand these preferences, recently collected data for the FAPESP project 202202338-8 will be analyzed. Descriptive statistical techniques, correlation and regression will be used for data analysis. We hope to understand which student profile most affects their preferences. For example, if students from different years of the course prefer different resources or students in the middle of the course have greater use of the resources. Furthermore, the consistency of student responses will be investigated by analyzing two methods applied to obtain the same responses. By examining which resources are most significant from the students' viewpoint, this project aims to contribute to assisting public managers (Pro-Rectors of Administration and Campus Directors) regarding the allocation of resources in public universities.
