Best practices in active methodologies used in an undergraduate nursing course from the students' perspective: an appreciative survey

Abstract

In view of recent debates on the need for curricular changes in health courses and the strong encouragement to use active methodologies, this research aims to understand the best strategies for active methodologies used in an undergraduate nursing course in a public university in the interior of São Paulo from the students' perspective. This is qualitative research, whose methodological framework is appreciative research. The study will be carried out with students from an undergraduate Nursing course at a public university in the interior of São Paulo. Data collection will take place during the months of April to July 2024, in accordance with the four stages of appreciative research: discovery; dreams; planning; destiny. The execution of the stages of the appreciative research will take place in 06 (six) meetings with the participants included in the research. At the end of the operationalization of the four stages of appreciative research, students will be invited to participate in an individual semi-structured interview with the aim of recording their evaluation and impressions of the investigation process. Data analysis will prioritize understanding the production of meaning. This analysis will originate a narrative that will allow describing and communicating the research process as a way of contributing to the methodological development of other studies of this nature.
