Abstract

As part of our doctoral research Rhythms of immanence: duration and eternity in Bergson and Spinoza (FAPESP - process nº 2022/03691-3), the research internship at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon - Sorbonne, under the supervision by Prof. David Lapoujade, intends to achieve two decisive objectives: (1) to allow access to and study of the manuscripts of the most diverse courses given by Bergson throughout his teaching career, and in particular those given at the Collège de France in 1910 - 1911 and 1911 - 1912, exclusively preserved in the collections of the Jaques Doucet Literary Library, in Paris; and (2) develop the exchange and internationalization of our research, considering in particular the meetings entailed by the Société des Amis de Bergson, one of the most renowned institutions in the promotion and dissemination of Bergsonism. The courses of 1910 - 1911 and 1911 - 1912 that we plan to dedicate ourselves during this stay abroad constitute one of the main bibliographies of our research: these are the courses of Bergson devoted to the philosophy of Spinoza, in which we have not only the formal developments actually employed by Bergson in the study of a philosophy - that is, perhaps the effective pursuance of an intuitive method - and not just of any philosophy, but the one we are interested in deploying its relationship with Bergsonian philosophy; as we also have the thematic aspects that Bergson himself elected as the main ones of Spinoza's philosophy - which could then help to highlight the profound intuition of Spinozism. In addition to these two main objectives, the internship intends to offer the conditions for the research of current production in a global framework on both Bergsonian and Spinozist philosophy.
