Abstract

This research project deals with the potential of the landscape analysis category in Geography teaching. The choice of theme is based on the underutilization of this category in the teaching-learning process, especially on the teachers' difficulties when using it in geographic analysis. In this sense, the general objective of this project is to identify how the landscape analysis category appears in didactic-pedagogical practices for the understanding of geographic space. In order to gather theoretical and methodological foundations on this explanatory category, we consider revisiting the landscape concept from the work of Milton Santos, placing it in dialogue with Cultural Geography and other classic authors. From this step on, we started with a comparative study between continuing education projects with Basic Education teachers in Italy and Brazil, which involve education through the landscape. Therefore, through the contribution of the rereading of the landscape category and the comparative study, it is intended to obtain results that indicate new didactic-pedagogical possibilities for the landscape category in geographic education, which is a scientific challenge.
