Abstract

The goal of this project is to develop an understanding of the role group velocity dispersion in nonlinear optical phenomena wihin optical microcavities. The student involved will follow the activities of senior students engaged in this project. Key objectives include:1. Study the basic optical linear properties in microcavities, such as optical modes and dispersion.2. Investigate the experimental aspects associated with dispersion measurements.3. Conduct basic characterization of the linear properties of optical cavities, including dispersion and quality factor.4. Understand and participate in nonlinear experiments, such as frequency comb generation, conducted by senior students.By fulfilling these objectives, it is expected that the student will gain comprehensive knowledge of the optical properties of microcavities, as well as practical skills in conducting experiments related to group velocity dispersion and associated nonlinear phenomena.
