Abstract

The objective of the study is to evaluate the physical and chemical properties of different materials based on calcium silicate. The following materials will be evaluated: Gray-MTAFlow (bismuth oxide), White MTAFlow (tantalum oxide), MTA Repair HP (calcium tungstate), Biodentine (zirconium oxide), tricalcium silicate (positive control - without radiopacifier). Setting time and radiopacity will be evaluated according to ISO 6876/2012 specifications. For density analysis, volumetric change, and pH, samples of 4x2 mm dimensions will be prepared following the manufacturer's instructions. For density evaluation, samples will be weighed, and volume obtained through micro-computed tomography (µCT). Material density will be calculated by dividing sample mass (in grams) by volume (converted to cm3) obtained from µCT analysis, expressed in g/cm3. For volumetric change, samples will be immersed in 0.5 ml of Dulbecco's modified eagle medium supplemented (sDMEM). Volumetric change will be calculated from this immersion after rescanning in µCT using the same parameters, values expressed as percentage denoting volumetric change. The pH of sDMEM/sample set will be monitored with each sDMEM change using a pH meter suitable for small volumes. Results will be subjected to D'Agostino and Pearson tests to verify normal distribution. A significance level of 5% will be considered for all tests.
