Abstract

Part of the literature points to the difficulty of coordination in the formation of candidate lists in electoral systems with a magnitude greater than five. However, there is evidence that in Brazilian electoral lists there is a concentration of votes even in districts with greater magnitudes. This research aims to investigate the role of party coordination in the preparation of electoral lists, based on federal deputy elections from 1998 to 2022, through quantitative analyses.
