Abstract

The present research project discusses theoretical and operational restoration issues in architectural works linked to the modern movement by analyzing Premio Internazionale Domus di Restauro e Conservazione awarded projects. The study hypothesizes that the principles of restoration, developed during the post-World War II period and present in various theoretical formulations and international documents-specifically the Venice Charter, which remains a foundational document of the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS)-continue to offer principles capable of guiding conservation and restoration interventions today, including for modern buildings. Methodologically, a qualitative and interpretative approach is adopted, involving theoretical review and project analysis, emphasizing integrated solutions to strengthen the social structure and the importance of interdisciplinarity. It is expected that the research results will contribute to the quality of discussions on theory and project practice, serving as a means for disciplinary self-reflection and providing critical support and repertoire for researchers and professionals.
