Abstract

The interventional projects in urban and architectural by practices of conservation, maintenance, rebuilding, demolition, additions and innovations imply in alterations at the preexistent edification and, the precipitated projectual decision can cause irreparable loses. These interventions demand subsidies that allow understanding of the existent industrial heritage, from its historical, socioeconomic and cultural process, its formation until its current state of abandonment for the interventional proposals provide the adaptation of the installations to the dynamic of the current city. Thereby, this undergraduate research project aims to investigate the process of conception of the contemporary urban and architectural project, from the interpretations of the architectural intervention of industrial heritage practice of the preservation interest on medium-sized cities in the São Paulo upstate that born under the aegis of the coffee/railroad culture binomial, as Presidente Prudente, where the little valorization of its heritage by the community, political and institutional actors lead to the material register destruction, important to understand the urban process. The research project investigates the transformation of the former installations of the Indústrias Reunidas Matarazzo into the Cultural Centre of Presidente Prudente. Therefore, it quest to examine the projectual fundaments used for the intervention, using as analytical reference, the principles of the theories of architectural restoration and the guidelines of the international charters to verify the concern with the historical, urban and architectural character preservation. Therefore, it will raise the entire work process, since the documentation, interviews with the population e authors of the project, until the verification in loco of the edifications and its use and existent appropriation to analyze and reflect on the validity of the interventions made and the projectual standards, pointing possibilities of intervention on certain socioeconomic and cultural contexts. This research is inserted in the studies iniciated by the processes: 2014/10252-0 Complex of workshops of the former Companhia Paulista in Jundiaí and the projectual intervention in the preexistent edification: the adequacy into the Poupatempo, on the investigation about the interventional projects developed by the nuclear study on Heritage and Project of UNESP - Campus of Presidente Prudente.
