Abstract

In the society of control, the rise of digital platforms drives the need for remote domination. As such, computer devices and software are supplied with information about human life converted into data flows to monitor the behavior of online users. This control procedure is based on the grouping of users' common characteristics, since it corroborates predictability, which favors the dynamics of surveillance and reverberates the problem of disinformation. In this way, communication channels, such as journalism, are able to strengthen this activity, since they build opinions and introject homogeneous behaviors through the news. Therefore, this exploratory project aims to investigate the relationship between algorithmic modulation and the journalistic editing process of news products published in the digital arena. To this end, we are working on a bibliographical review and investigation of news stories on the subject of abortion, between 2022 and 2024, in a hegemonic vehicle - Folha de São Paulo - and a counter-hegemonic one - Agência Lupa. The aim is to identify the connection between modulation strategies and the stages of journalistic editing aimed at disinformation.
