Abstract

The main objective of the research is to create a database of qualitative and quantitative information, as well as analyses, regarding the role of agroecological production in climate resilience (adaptation and mitigation of climate change) and the promotion of responsible land governance, considering the Brazilian reality concerning the territorial rights of traditional peoples and communities. The proposal aims to strengthen the connections between research, governance, and communities. The focus is to generate new scientific knowledge to fill identified gaps through a two-factor study, utilizing mixed methods to evaluate the results. Over the course of six semesters, qualitative methodological procedures (including semi-structured interviews, focus groups, participant observation, and activist research) will be developed to facilitate dialogue between communities, socio-territorial movements, governmental institutions (at different scales), and academia, strengthening the construction of agroecological production networks with effects on climate change mitigation as well as food security and sovereignty. The results will be analyzed and presented in journals and scientific conferences, broadening the dialogue across different fields of knowledge through an interdisciplinary approach.
