Abstract

The increase in temperatures and heat waves have become increasingly significant and have intensified every year. Studies have shown that extreme heat events can be associated with higher rates of non-accidental mortality, increased hospital admissions, and health-related impacts. The most vulnerable segment of the population includes the elderly, children, outdoor workers, people with pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, homeless people, dependent drug users, or those with lower socioeconomic status. This research seeks to identify indicators that can be measured and mapped to generate information for the Public Policies of the municipality of Jundiaí-SP, aiming to identify heat-vulnerable urban areas. The methodology involves phases of a systematic review of heat vulnerability mapping and collection of physical, environmental, socioeconomic, and demographic data.  This study contributes to the RESFRIA project, guiding urban planning and management actions to map information and identify strategies for target climate change adaptation.
