Abstract

Conservation efforts are crucial for preserving biodiversity and ecosystem health. The current biodiversity crisis requires action to protect species from extinction and ecosystems from severe degradation. Billions of dollars are thus invested annually in the conservation of biodiversity. Assessing whether conservation initiatives result in positive outcomes for biodiversity is necessary to guide future efforts. Various strategies have been employed to conserve ecosystem and species, resulting in differing levels of success. This 2-month proposal aims to conduct a comprehensive mapping of successful conservation strategies in Brazil. We will start focusing our analyzes on bird and mammal conservation, particularly on the species are the brink of the extinction (critically endangered). By identifying and analyzing these strategies, we can gain insights into the factors contributing to their success and apply this knowledge to enhance future conservation efforts.
