Abstract

This project aims to address control and filtering projects for safety-critical systems. More precisely, the project investigates conditions for the synthesis of controllers and filters for automotive systems, taking into account parametric uncertainties in the model and performance criteria such as the H-infinity, H2 and L1 norms. The methodology relies on Lyapunov's theory, which can be used through Control Lyapunov Functions (CLFs) and also using polynomially parameter-dependent functionsto build certificates for closed-loop stability and performance, resulting in the form of parameterdependent linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Furthermore, another methodology to be investigated is the use of Control Barrier Functions (CBFs) which can be readily employed in conjunction with CLFs in a quadratic optimization program (QP). Extensions to deal with the design of observers, saturation in the control signal, time-varying parameters and gain-scheduling will be considered. Comparativenumerical studies with other methods from the literature will be conducted, as well as experimental validation of the proposed techniques.
