Abstract

Studies in the area of ¿¿evidence-based therapies have been increasing in order to develop practices with greater scientific support for the population. Cultural context variables seem to be omnipresent in the therapeutic relationship between the patient and the psychologist. Training multicultural skills so that psychologists can offer more effective interventions has been a concern in recent international studies. After reviewing the national and international literature, no instrument was found that investigates the multicultural skills of clinical psychologists. The objective of this project is to explore the field of multicultural skills of clinical psychologists and propose a way to measure such skills. In Study 1, a survey will be conducted to assess cultural sensitivity in Brazilian clinical psychologists. The sample will be non-probabilistic for convenience, with an expected participation of 400 Brazilian psychologists. Data collection will be online, using a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Brazilian version of the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21), and two tests to be adapted for Brazil, the Munroe Multicultural Attitude Scale Questionnaire (MASQUE) and the Discrimination and Prejudice Responses Scale (DAPR). Study 2 will present the construction and evidence of content validity of an instrument to measure multicultural competences of Brazilian clinical psychologists. This study will have three major phases: the first will be the study of the multicultural competence construct; the second will be the construction of the instrument; and the third will be its validation. The aim of this study is to develop and test evidence of initial validity of an instrument that assesses multicultural competences in clinical psychology professionals.
