Abstract

This project seeks to strengthen collaborative work with the Brazilian sex workers' movement and its allied institutions. The direct doctoral student will conduct an ethnographic research on the cosmopolitical assemblages, networks and knowledge of (cis and trans) women sex workers in the North region of Brazil that have mobilized through their networks and organizations to fight stigma and historical dynamics of violence, death and illness. It is focused on understanding the territorial, sociocultural, historical and environmental processes specific to the northern Amazon, having international borders, fluvial dynamics, interethnic relations, the history of military colonization in the region as relational landmarks. In addition to ethnography, the sutdent must actively participate in Meetings of Knowledge (Encontros de Saberes) and Future-building Workshops (Oficinas de Composição de Futuros), as well as in the production of a Transmedia Platform that will be created for the project, and training processes with students from the USP School of Public Health. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop their research skills, seek international partnerships and fellowships, collaborate with a heterogenous and interdisciplinary team of researchers andcollaborators, and publicize important research results.
