Abstract

The use of insecticides is a common and necessary practice for the management of insect pests in most agroecosystems, aiming to protect cultivars and guarantee agricultural productivity. However, the indiscriminate use of these chemicals can have adverse consequences not only for the target species, but also for the beneficial organisms present in these agroecosystems, such as predatory insects and pollinators. Among these organisms, lacewings, particularly the species Ceraeochrysa claveri, play a crucial role in the natural biological control of insect pests. Therefore, the present project aims to evaluate the occurrence of transgenerational effects in future generations (F1) of green lacewings, where the parents (F0) will be fed with Diatraea saccharalis eggs contaminated with the synthetic insecticide cyclaniliprole at concentrations corresponding to 10, 20 and 30% of the LC50 for C. claveri larvae. With the installation of pairs of these parental insects, biological parameters such as fecundity, fertility and duration of the larval and pupal period will be evaluated and compared between insects from the F0 and F1 generation. Analyzing the possible occurrence of transgenerational effects will allow us to better understand the dynamics of adaptation and resistance in lacewings, contributing to more sustainable and effective management practices for controlling pests in agricultural environments.
