Abstract

This doctoral aims to investigate the consequences of R&D laboratory closures on the development of technologies and pharmaceuticals. The initial study will examine the conditions under which firms manage to repurpose technologies from closed laboratories and the factors influencing the success or discontinuity of these initiatives. The doctoral candidate will use the Cortellis database, renowned for its wealth of information on agreements and technological trajectories, to collect and organize data on the stages of drug and technology development from both closed laboratories and operational units. As the candidate progresses in their academic journey, it is expected that they will further explore the database to develop additional articles, expanding their scientific contribution and strengthening their dissertation. This project contributes to the innovation literature by shedding light on the mechanisms that enable firms to maximize the utilization of intellectual assets in organizational restructuring scenarios.
