Abstract

The rates of unplanned pregnancies represent a public health concern.concern in Brazil and worldwide. Therefore, guidance oneffective contraceptive methods is extremely important. Thelong-acting reversible contraceptive methods (LARCs) are among the most effective ways of avoiding unplanned pregnancy.the most effective ways of avoiding unplanned pregnancies and reducing contraceptive failures.failures.Among the contraceptive methods distributed to municipalities by the Ministry of HealthMinistry of Health, the copper intrauterine device (TCu 380A IUD) stands out for beinga method with a high potential for efficacy, practicality, safety, long-acting,reversible and non-hormonal.Given the availability of this method in the Family Health Units of theHealth Units in the municipality of Botucatu, this study aims to assess the rate ofand continuity of the method in women who use these units.This is a cross-sectional clinical study with longitudinal analysis(retrospective cohort) of the continuity of use of the Copper IUD.patients who underwent insertion at the Family Health Units in the municipality ofBotucatu from January 2020 to January 2024.They will be summoned to their units for an interview in which we willwe will assess whether they continue to use the Copper IUD, and whether they feel satisfied with it or not.with it or not. If use is discontinued, we will question the reason for its withdrawal.
