Abstract

Currently, skin cancer is the most common neoplasm worldwide being commonly divided into melanoma (MSC) and non-melanoma (NMSC). Countries with high ultraviolet (UV) radiation incidence and population with light skin have individuals frequently affected by this neoplasm, with Brazil being an example. Aim: To perform a geographic analysis of skin cancer in municipalities located in the northeast of the state of São Paulo to assess the incidence and mortality patterns in this region, identifying risk areas. Methodology: Case series of skin cancer reported in the region of Barretos over a period of 18 years (2000-2017). Cancer cases diagnosed will be obtained from the respective cancer registry. Corresponding cancer deaths will be obtained from Brazilian public government databases (FOSP; DATASUS). Finally, understanding the coverage patterns of skin cancer incidence and mortality in the region can provide important insights for the formulation of health strategies, as well as contribute to the development of personalized preventive actions targeted at specific groups and more comprehensive areas. Thus, it is expected that this project will contribute to reducing the impact of skin cancer and improving the quality of life of the population in the northeast region of the state of São Paulo.
