Abstract

This research project investigates the correlation between the use of legal and illegal substances and the premature mortality of Brazilian musicians in the 20th century. Many of these artists had their lives shortened due to harmful habits, exacerbated by the pressures of the music industry and the romanticization of a hedonistic lifestyle. The main objective is to quantify the potential years of life lost among Brazilian musicians and to assess the impact of culture and the music industry on the perpetuation of these habits. The methodology involves the quantitative and qualitative analysis of biographies and public databases, using eligibility criteria to ensure relevance. The study seeks to contribute to the understanding of the social and cultural conditions that make musicians particularly vulnerable to substance use, offering support for the development of public policies aimed at the prevention and treatment of chemical dependency in this population. It is expected that the results obtained will shed light on the need for preventive measures and health support.
