Abstract

This project aims to introduce the student to the fascinating field of quantum non-locality and its crucial role in quantum information science. Quantum non-locality, arising from entanglement, allows for correlations that defy classical explanations, offering advantages in various quantum information protocols. We will explore the significance of non-locality in device-independent protocols, measurement-based quantum computation, and random number generation. A key focus will be on self-testing, a powerful technique for certifying quantum devices based solely on observed statistics. Self-testing leverages violations of Bell inequalities to infer the underlying quantum states and measurements, providing a robust method for validating quantum systems. This project will delve into the theoretical foundations of self-testing and its practical applications in quantum information processing, equipping the student with valuable knowledge and skills in this rapidly evolving field.
