Abstract

This project refers to the request for a Research Internship Abroad Grant (BEPE) linked to a scientific initiation research funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation - FAPESP (process number 2023/08805-0). The project includes a proposal for an academic exchange with the Universidad de la Frontera - Chile. The work plan to be developed from July 21 to August 19 aims to deepen knowledge about actions and educators linked to Crefal, as well as the literature on "community development". In terms of expected results, this experience may broaden the references for understanding Crefal and strengthen the exchange with Chilean researchers. The dialogue with Prof. Dr. Guillermo Williamson Castro will be very important for the research in development, given this researcher's long and fruitful experience with the themes of youth and adult education and rural education. The first stage of the research carried out from 04/01/2024 to 03/31/2025 aimed to: Reconstruct the history of the Crefal Audiovisual Aids Department, in the period 1951-1960, considering the institutional organization, the subjects involved and the production of educational materials for elementary education. The ongoing stage aims to analyze the teacher training courses between 1951 and 1965 in their theoretical and practical aspects, especially the basis in sociological and anthropological studies on the "development of communities".
