Abstract

Emotional expressions are crucial for the development and regulation of interpersonal relationships. Understanding, recognizing and knowing how to deal with one's own emotions and those of others is a very important requirement in individual relationships. Objective: to evaluate and correlate emotional regulation strategies and quality of life in university students. Study design: descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational. Sample: 137 university students from a public institution, of both sexes, aged 18 or over, will participate in two courses, 48 from the psychology course and 89 from the nursing course. They will be selected by stratified sample. To collect data, participants will answer three questionnaires: sociodemographic, Emotional Regulation Questionnaire and quality of life questionnaire (Whoqol-bref). Participants will receive a sealed envelope containing the questionnaires to be completed. Participants will have 15 days to return completed questionnaires. The data will be analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively and statistical tests will be defined later, as they depend on whether or not the data is normal. The project was submitted to the Ethics Committee under number CAAE 79241424.5.0000.5415. Expected results: it is expected that the results will provide data on how university students deal with emotional aspects and thus promote strategies to improve social relationships and quality of life.
