Abstract

The Alto Juquery Sub Basin (SBHAJ) is an area of ¿¿great importance because its waters are used to supply the population of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo (RMSP), especially through the Cantareira System. The research internship at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) with research professor Prof. Dr. Simone Varandas will expand knowledge in the ¿¿conservation of Hydrographic Basins. Consequently, it is essential to monitor changes in land use in this sub-basin, as this will allow for more assertive decisions about land use policy. Thus, the project's objective is to diagnose the environmental conflict in the Alto Juquery Sub Basin, the main river and hydrographic basin in the state of São Paulo. The analysis will be carried out in the Alto Juquery Sub Basin to define the land use capacity of the sub-basins based on the roughness coefficient, drainage density, and average slope. The environmental conflict will be assessed by comparing the potential use with the current uses of the river basins. Analyzing changes in land use in the basin will assist in river basin planning and soil conservation.
