Abstract

Precision medicine is an approach that aims to adapt disease treatment according to the specific characteristics of each individual. To this end, it integrates information from the patient's clinical history, such as symptoms, test results, family history, and lifestyle, with the analysis of the patient's genetic profile. Due to the diversity and heterogeneity of data, different methods can be used to extract relevant information and generate knowledge. These results can support the formulation of public health policies, promoting more personalized, effective medicine aligned with the population's needs. In this sense, this postdoctoral research project aims to identify and apply Database (DB) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to structure and analyze the different types of data considered in precision medicine, in order to guide clinical decisions. The integration between these two areas of computing increases the quantity, complexity, diversity, and quality of the analyses that can be performed, which expands the number of new results that can be used in precision health strategies. The research is linked to the public health data lake project and will be developed at the Center for Applied Research in Artificial Intelligence Recreating Environments (CPA IARA), linked to the Institute of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (ICMC) at the University of São Paulo (USP), in partnership with public and private institutions in the states of São Paulo and Paraná. This collaboration will increase the number of results generated, which will enable the replication of the analyses to other Brazilian states. The health data used in this project are from the population of the municipality of Pompeia (SP). This information is public and comes from Santa Casa de Pompeia. This postdoctoral research project will last twenty-four months and aims to produce a set of analyses that can significantly contribute to the advancement of precision medicine and, thus, generate knowledge that helps personalize health care, based on the integration of clinical and genetic data.
