Abstract

The Signaling Scale of High Abilities/Giftedness Behaviors in Children - Parent Version (ESCAH/C-PAIS) aims to identify behaviors related to high abilities/giftedness in children aged 6 to 10 years, from the perspective of parents. This Brazilian scale comprises 123 items distributed across nine subscales. It demonstrates evidence of semantic validity based on the participation of 45 parents/guardians and evaluation by five expert judges. A pilot study was conducted with four mothers from a city in the interior of São Paulo. Subsequently, the scale was administered online to 658 parents/guardians from various regions of Brazil. The internal structure was examined using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), while the precision of subscales was assessed using Cronbach's alpha (¿) and McDonald's omega (¿) coefficients, revealing strong factorial loads and satisfactory indices. This research aims to conduct new studies on the validity and precision of ESCAH/C-PAIS, aiming to improve its psychometric qualities through three specific objectives: (1) investigate evidence of concurrent validity by comparing it with previously validated measures of related constructs; (2) examine evidence of convergent validity by correlating it with instruments assessing similar traits; and (3) analyze the scale's temporal stability through test-retest procedures. Data collection will be conducted via the online version of ESCAH/C-PAIS. Statistical analyses will include the Shapiro-Wilk test for normality, descriptive statistics (frequencies, mean, standard deviation), Student's t-test, logistic regression analysis, and Pearson correlation test, with a significance level of 5% and using SPSS and/or R Statistical Software. It is expected that the findings will significantly contribute to the field of High Abilities/Giftedness (HA/GD), advancing scientific knowledge and providing social benefits through robust evidence of validity and precision of ESCAH/C-PAIS.
