Abstract

The studies and the identification of students with high abilities or giftedness in Brazil is still very underdeveloped and as a result many talents are lost, since most of these people are not even identified. This study aims to identify the number of students with high abilities or giftedness in a Municipal School of Basic Education in the city of Bauru and see which teachers' conceptions in relation to those students with high abilities or giftedness. The research methodology is qualitative and may rely on standardized instruments and structured interviews. The identification will be carried from the data already collected by ongoing research in network Bauru students with indicators of giftedness through the "Guide for observing gifted and talented children" (Gunther, s / d) used in Lavras / MG. After the previous identification of students from seven classrooms in a public school in Bauru, these students will be sent to the Centre for Applied Psychology - CPA UNESP Bauru campus, to be evaluated in relation to intellectual development through the WISC - Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Intelligence Scale, concomitant with this procedure will be described in academic performance data for these pupils related to school performance test, as done in school with all students because this study falls within a larger project improving the quality of education has done in school with support from FAPESP. The last step is to see that teachers and students themselves attributed the good performance at school. (AU)
