Abstract

This project intends to make a computational simulation of noise generated aerodynamically. The flow will be resolved by the DNS method (Direct Numeric Simulation), which means the numeric solving of the Navier-Stokes equations. Once it has been calculated, it's possible to identify the sound sources and use them to calculate the acoustic far-field by acoustic analogies. The acoustic far-field calculation by DSN has a huge computational cost. The acoustic analogy allows reducing significantly the DNS computational domain and, consequently, reduces the total simulation time. This project will allow determining in which conditions the acoustic analogies have the proper accuracy between the comparation with a complete DNS simulation and the optimization reached by using these methods.
