Abstract

This study emerged from questions the authors had about the significant demand from patients with Diabetes Mellitus at the services of the Health Center School (HCS), both in emergency services and programs. The aims of the study are to identify the number of times users of the Diabetes Program of this service look for the Emergency Service; to know the profile of the patient with Diabetes, regarding gender and age, that uses the HCS service; to identify care services to patients followed by the Diabetes Program; to quantify the number of patients who evolved to amputations; to identify the patients registered at the program HIPERDIA; identify patients who do self monitoring of glucose profile and the number of exams carried out per year. It is a cross-sectional research, using quantitative approach in a Public Health Unit with diabetic patients who are followed in secondary service. For the data analysis a database will be developed, given the high quantity of information, the double entry technique will be used in 30% of total subjects. Data will be presented by descriptive statistics using mean values, standard deviations, medians, minimum and maximum and proportions. (AU)
