Abstract

The experiment predicts a double-blind crossover in situ study, in which 10 voluntaries will participate in four experimental phases of 7 days, with intervals of 7 days between them, wearing a dispositive on the palate for each experimental phase containing 4 blocks of bovine enamel (obtained through section and polishing from bovine incisor teeth, previously selected through surface microhardness (initial SMH)). Cariogenic challenges will be produced with 30% sucrose solution, 6-times per day. The groups are defined as: (PC) positive control: dentifrice with 1100 µg F/g (Crest®); (NC) negative control: non-fluoride dentifrice (Placebo); (D1) dentifrice with 500 µg F/g supplemented with Ca; (D2) dentifrice with 500 µg F/g. After the experimental period, the superficial microhardness (SMH1) will be analyzed, in order to calculate the percentage of variation of the superficial microhardness (%SMHC), and values will be transformed in percentage of mineral volume (% vol min). The fluoride, calcium and phosphate determination will be performed by pre-established tests. Data will be submitted to normality and homogeneity tests to proper perform statistical analysis. Based on this study, it is expected to verify the effect of low concentration fluoride dentifrices supplemented with calcium on enamel demineralization process and the biofilm formed in situ. (AU)
