Abstract

The interest in evaluate the biologic activity of drugs that present one or more assymetric centers has increased due to stereoselective interactions of them with chiral molecules present in the organism. Currently, the pharmaceutical industry disposes of many tools to control or direct the syntesis of pure enantiomeric drugs. Analytical techniques of chiral resolution comes being developed, among which it is distinguished high performance liquid cromatrography (HPLC) using chiral stationary phases. The problems related to the stereoselective interactions of drugs can occur not only in the biologic system, but even in excipients used in the pharmaceutical form. Therefore is the necessary knowledge of the physical and physical-chemistry properties of the drug and of the excipients used in the formulations, as well as also the procedures related to manufacturing process in order to guarantee the efficacy, security and quality of the pharmaceutical product. Due to above exposed, the objective of this project is to evaluate chemistry stability and physical-chemistry of the atenolol enantiomers in different formulations developed using HPLC with chiral stationary phases.
