Abstract

Cardiovascular complications are intimately associated with end stage renal disease. Cardiovascular disease is the most important cause of mortality in this set of patients. Cardiovascular calcifications have been received increased attention because of its prognostic significance and possibility of intervention. Many risk factors have been associated to vascular calcifications in special the use of calcium based phosphate binders. The purpose of this study is to evaluate, in hemodialysis patients, the association between risk factors of calcification, especially calcium based phosphate binders, and the presence of ecocardiographycaly detected valvar calcifications.
