Abstract

The study aims to evaluate the news published in O Estado de S. Paulo in all issues of 2006, in order to verify the ways in which the news related to weather and climate are transmitted, observing aspect such as: whether is there a period or a type of information which is more frequently disseminated, whether the news is precise, the enhancement of this sort of news in the entire newspaper, etc. One stresses that the news transmitted by the media (in this specific case, the written media) influences both the understanding and the perception of citizens and policy makers of the atmospheric conditions.
