Abstract

The aim of this protocol is to evaluate the association between denture hygiene of completely edentulous subjects and the following factors: oral health-related quality of life, mood disorders and social variables. An estimated sample of 80 participants will be assessed. They will fill a form containing the questionnaires OHIP-EDENT (oral health-related quality of life), HAD (anxiety and depression) and PSS (stress), and questions about social aspects (gender, educational level, marital status, job and income). Biofilm coverage area will be quantified after disclosing on the internal surface of upper dentures. The association between denture biofilm coverage area and the other variables will be assessed by simple correlation and multiple regression analyses (±=.05).
