Abstract

This project proposes research on the use of semantic knowledge, expressed by a logical-probabilistic language, in activities of mobile robotics. The term semantic knowledge refers to descriptions of concepts used in mapping and localization of mobile robots. The combination of description logic and probabilities is promising in this type of activity, where certain information is deterministic, while others contain uncertainties. The objective of this project is to map an indoor environment with a mobile robot equipped with vision system and laser scanning sensor using semantic knowledge implemented by one formalism of probabilistic description logic. This goal fits into the tematic project "Probabilistic Logic" (Case 2008/03995-5) now in progress and to whom the request is associated.
